Article From Changeworks Magazine

    I was asked by Carmen Elliott to write a short article for Changeworks Magazine about "how I got into all this" (working as a spiritual healer and intuitive). As I thought about this, it quickly became apparent to me that I've simply always been the way I am.  From an early age, I experienced clairvoyant dreams, precognitive knowings, and visions of Angels and loved ones in spirit. I empathically felt the emotions of friends and family members quite deeply.  Thankfully, my intuitive gifts were nurtured by my mother and grandmother. I knew innately that my purpose on Earth was to be of service to others. I received a BA in Psychology and a Master of Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill.  I raised a family of four, and worked many years as a psychotherapist in the mental health and addictions field. I loved this work, but had a sense that something was “missing" - a layer of depth and meaning that I hadn't yet tapped into. I later worked as a Hospice medical social worker with terminally ill clients, a calling that opened my heart  further and taught me so very much.

     I took a two-year break from clinical social work to provide my mother’s end of life care. As her condition worsened, I cared for her as you would a baby, and noticed that my hands became quite warm.  At the age of 85, Mom’s wishes were to transition in our home with her family. I witnessed her soul going up and out the open window by her bed as she passed peacefully into the Light, escorted by her Guardian Angel and two Snowbirds. Afterward, I was determined to find out why my hands had become so warm when I worked with my mother.  I asked for guidance in my meditations, and received a clear vision of the woman who would become my first teacher in the art of healing. This led me to an incredible pathway of learning and growing as a healing facilitator that continues to this day.  Learning Angel Therapy, Medical Intuition, Crystal Healing, Reiki, Shamanic Healing, Past Life work, and more – the world of holistic healing opened its doors to me.
     I integrated these teachings into my private practice as a spiritual healer and intuitive counselor, and later began teaching these modalities. I’m grateful to have studied with some incredible metaphysical teachers over the years, including Doreen Virtue, James Van Praagh, Hank Wesselman, Dr. Brian Weiss, and others.  I’m most grateful to my first teacher in this field, Vickie Penninger, who recognized me immediately as a future teacher of healing.  It’s my honor to bring teachings in Angel Intuition & Healing, Core Shamanism, Reiki, Crystal Healing, Angel Card Reading, Medical Intuition and more to my students in NC. My husband and I are Guest Faculty Members for The Foundation for Shamanic Studies.  I see clients Monday through Friday in Durham, NC.  My husband and I co-teach in multiple locations across NC.  It’s a busy, wonderful life of learning, teaching, and healing, and I enjoy every moment of it. I see miracles happening in the lives of my clients and students every week! I continue to work joyfully alongside the Angels.
